Prefabricated architectural concept by architect Emelie Holmberg. I photographed the first made situated in unspoiled woodlands on the island of Väddö, Sweden.

It grew out of a realization of changing living and working patterns partly precipitated by the pandemic. Pre-Covid, Emelie had dreamt of a more flexible lifestyle facilitated by technology, allowing her to work remotely wherever she chose, so long as she had internet access.

This partly sparked the idea for Gimme Shelter, which began life as a concept for her own self-build, low-cost home. The project comprises two structures. One measures 32 sq m and contains a living room, kitchen, and bathroom; the other occupies 10sq m and houses a bedroom.

GIMME SHELTER
FESKEKÖRKA

BITUS commissioned the photography of Feskekörka, Gothenburg's iconic fish market, which has long been a symbol of the city’s rich fishing traditions. Now, a floating restaurant moored alongside the quay brings a modern twist to this historic landmark. This gleaming barge seamlessly blends contemporary dining with the city's maritime heritage. Diners can savor exquisite seafood dishes while immersed in an ambiance that celebrates Gothenburg’s deep connection to the ocean—a harmonious mix of maritime vigor and Nordic charm. Central to the barge’s inviting character is its use of Linax Brun, a material whose warm, earthy tones evoke the hues of weathered wood and sunlit harbors. This thoughtfully chosen finish graces both the barge’s exterior and its interiors, creating a sense of continuity and authenticity—a bridge, if you will, between the market’s historic spirit and the modern allure of this floating gastronomic haven.
